Nutrition Education, Breastfeeding Support, Food, and Families
WIC is the nation’s most successful public health nutrition program. WIC provides healthy supplemental food, nutrition education, breastfeeding guidance, and community support to income-eligible pregnant women, moms of infants, and children up to five-years-old that live in Colorado. All families are welcome – including single parent, grandparents as caregivers, kinship care, and foster families.
Eligibility
Many people don’t realize they’re eligible for WIC. Colorado households with a low to medium income or who receive Medicaid, SNAP, TANF or FDPIR are income-eligible for WIC.
Pregnant women
Mothers of babies up to six-months-old
Mothers who are breastfeeding babies up to 12 months old
Babies and kids up to five-years-old
Already on Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF or meet the financial guidelines
Colorado Women, Infants, and Children offers:
eWic
In April 2016 Colorado WIC introduced the eWIC card. This card has replaced the old paper vouchers and made it easier for WIC families to receive their monthly benefits. Watch this video or give us a call for more information.
Advantages of eWIC:
It is discrete and easy to use, no more holding up the line at the grocery store.
You can buy food as you need it throughout the month, not all at the same time, as it was with the old vouchers.
It works at WIC approved stores across Colorado, not just in our district.
WIC Retailers
There are currently 13 WIC retailers across our six counties. To become a WIC retailer, please review the Retailer Guide to eWIC, Retailer Handbook, and the Retailer Alerts. Then email our WIC manager, Taylor Guzman or call (970) 867-4918 ext. 2252.
