Environmental Health
NCHD's Environmental Health Division protects our communities from environmental hazards through focused efforts on food safety, water and air quality, and zoonotic disease. Many of the programs we oversee are governed by state statute as well as local regulations that have been adopted by the NCHD Board of Health. Our environmental health staff, referred to as generalists since they work in every program we offer, perform various inspections, license facilities and provide education on a number of topics to help protect our communities against environmental hazards.
In addition to regular duties, environmental health staff also respond to signed complaints regarding environmental issues such as illegal dumping, unsafe food practices, and compliance violations. If you have a complaint to file, download the Compliance Complaint Form below, fill it out and bring it to one of our offices. Only signed complaints will be followed up on.
